Gemax, Turkish giant Taca in strategic cooperation agreement

BELGRADE Serbia's Gemax company and one of Turkey's biggest construction companies Taca have signed an agreement on strategic cooperation. It will enable their joint participation in the construction market of Serbia and the region, a statement issued on Wednesday said. Thanks to the agreement, which has been signed for an indefinite period of time, 600 Serbian workers will be employed; while estimations are that the value of the projects on which the Serbian-Turkish company will be engaged would amount to 250 million euros per year. According to the agreement Serbian Gemax will be engaging manpower, materials and machinery. When signing the agreement Djordjo Antelj, the founder of Gemax company, pointed out that it was a very significant business move, not only for Gemax, but also for the entire construction sector in Serbia. "Thanks to the company Taca, which has impressive references in the building construction sector, which is known for its exceptional quality of construction in a short timeframe, the Serbian construction industry will access projects more easily both in Serbia and the region. The aim is for the Serbian construction companies, owing to such partnership, to equally participate in all tenders that are under the auspices of the European Union and other major investors“, Antelj said. He also pointed out that analyses show that at the end of this year and in early 2014, there will be a strong recovery of construction sector, thanks to the financial incentives of the Serbian governmen, combined with measures of deregulation. This year it is expected that the investment in the construction will increase by about five, and the next by about seven percent. He pointed out that the initial value of announced investments in the construction sector in Serbia was about 500 million euros and that they will directly or indirectly be responsible for employing at least 10,000 people.
